Over the last couple of months, sources including Motor Authority, GMAuthority, and Motor1 reported spotting camouflage Chevy Corvette E-Ray Hybrid prototypes at events such as Nürburgring in Germany. Whispers of a hybrid or electric Corvette began in 2015 following the discovery of various trademarks filed by Chevrolet. Finally confirmed in April 2022, the Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray Hybrid is well in the works, and we expect an official reveal before the end of the year. Now that we have more than a 30-second video, let’s jump right into everything we know so far about the revolutionary new Corvette.
Let’s Get Specific
From the spy shots, the Chevy Corvette E-Ray Hybrid resembles the 2023 Corvette Z06, with a wide body and a similar grille design. However, it appears to have an extended lip spoiler rather than a pedestal spoiler. Chevrolet has yet to confirm the powertrain, but MotorAuthority predicted it may feature a single motor powering the front axle with the 2.3L V8 engine from the Stingray powering the rear axle. Output is anticipated to fall around 600-650 horsepower, impressive numbers for a hybrid vehicle, but this is a Corvette, so we aren’t surprised. The Chevy Corvette E-Ray Hybrid may also receive plug-in capabilities, which increases the possibility that the supercar will have a slight yet notable electric range. 70 years ago in 1953 in St. Louis, Missouri, a legend was born. This year, Chevy is celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Corvette with the release of a revolutionary new model. 1956-1957:
On May 1, 1956, Karl Ludvigsen of Sports Car Illustrated, began his review of the latest ‘56 Corvette model, writing, “Chances are that by the time you read this the ’56 Corvette will have made a profound impression on the whole sports car world,” and he was absolutely right. After a rocky three years of production, the 1956 Corvette would set the standard for American Sports cars.1963 – 1967:
